Senior Director, Federal Affairs

Alexandra Adams directs NRDC's Federal Affairs team and works to develop proactive federal strategies to secure environmental protections while addressing legislative threats. Adams previously served as legislative director of NRDC’s Nature program, coordinating NRDC’s strategy for preventing legislative threats to lands, oceans, water and wildlife. She also led NRDC’s offshore oil and gas development work and served as the Ocean division’s senior advocate in Washington, DC. Prior to joining NRDC, Adams held positions at national and regional conservation organizations focusing on climate change adaptation, endangered species, and water resources. She graduated from the University of Florida and received a master’s degree in environmental studies from Brown University. She is based in Washington, D.C.
