Each year, tens of thousands of wild animals are killed to feed the demand for ivory, rhino horn, or polar bear parts.

NRDC fights to protect endangered wildlife from being slaughtered or maimed for trade. Using international wildlife treaties, we work to ban the commercial polar bear trade. We encourage China to regulate the amount of ivory and rhino horn in the marketplace. And in the United States, we help pass legislation in individual states—including those with the largest demand for ivory and rhino horn—that calls for stiff penalties for traffickers.
